Description

art style pretty much inspired by Zelda concept art.
I was surprised but I like a lot how japanese make concept art for great games so simple, chaotic, messy and with very simple strokes. Watching concept art from west artist or other games (such like FF) where they usually release artbooks to admire that art documentation, but wow after watching I feel they all are such masterpieces, I have such grand admiration but.... feels like beyond. It doesnt inspire me because that detail, every piece is so perfect that feels like beyond my time and skill to practice for my own creating and personal stuff.
I was surprised that many games, especially such great Zelda, came from very simple concept art hands. And guess what? When i started practicing and getting inspired, I felt a lot more joy, pleasure working on it and certainly helped me a lot more with understanding digital (surprising, eh?) than detailed masterpieces and as well creativity.

Isn't that kind of strange?

I think it's because... whenyou get inspired by your favourite game, let's say, God of War where has oh shit amazing concept art and I drool over Andy Park's art so much. It's so amazing. I want to draw digitally like that. I want. I wan (etc.). Then you sit down and draw. After that I feel.... my piece sucks. Looks ok, but I feel that I'm losing motivation and patience to finish. It's like you set in your mind to draw something similar like that artist, strived your skill to learna lot but when is reality, it looks like a piece of shit when you compare yours to theirs. Subconsciously, you feel a mental pressure and stress to create good art that you are unable to see your own tiny improvement but it has to be like what displays on that artbook. You can't focus on enjoyment. On simple things. you feel with that more like a "work practice", not enjoyment for piece but hoping someday you'll be as skilled as this picture.

Thus, when you look at art like Zelda which you admire and has much simplier concepts... You feel like you are on equal levels, not unreachable. Like talking to a human. Looking at amazing masterpieces it feels like talking to a god or deity. Or, even better is to compare is on DA. You, an average hobby artist on DA. You want to improve your art. When you talk to amazing artists with great skill, you feel subconsciously a bit stressed out and cautiously talk to them to impress the artist or not hurt or something.... but when you talk to somebody who is average with the skill and passion, you feel a lot smoother. More open minded. Your mind becomes more open. And so, with that kind of art where concepts gave me impressions of being average level and more simple than what I imagined, certainly helped me to give a boost to try with JOY. When I do, look at Zelda art and wow I feel so much joy what I draw. I am no good at digital and this piece probably dont look good but I feel so happy and excited with it. By that, mentally I dont feel any stress, or any gap or perfection or crazy comparing theirs to mine piece- I was able to fully focus drawing on MY artwork, not focusing why my artwork doesnt have THAT strokes like that amazing art. I was able to fully feel what I draw, focus in my mind on design and so on. Once I've enjoyed working that one, I'm now more motivated to do another - thanks to that I'll be more effective with my disciplinary learning about digital art and create more conceptual designs for my ideas.
I have terrible problem that I get de-motivated with digital art so fast. I get so discouraged. Something like that I have opened hopes to get motivated again.... It's really amazing how great games (or anything, great movie or masterpieces) are created by series of very simple concept art.

This is epic! If this were an actual enemy in the game, I'd probably be scared of it
