For information: It's 100% traditional medium made picture.
There are so many really wonderful entries for that contest in majority done by digital medium… so I decided to go with traditional medium I could do in digital, but I thought it would be really fun to take a challenge for myself doing in traditional medium game-based illustration of biggest elemental boss and I wanted to give a little support to traditional art, which is not much appreciated today amongst the digital creations. It was truly challenging to do with real media, took me really, really long time especially creating self-made textures! But it was really experiencing to work on such like that.
If anyone is curious about design, I'll explain: I did pretty careful research for making a design for my colossus to represent it as earth colossus plus with using not-common elements which are representative to earth. Design is based on raw earth physic/biological elements. That "electricy" is not actually thunderous electric, it's actually electromagnetic power. Every planet and earth has electromagnetic power, and even with precious stones there is energy (technically that energy is not visible at all, but I was thinking... to show it, since it'd show more life and power of it's beast. I think, without it.. it would look like… just a rock. But I want something to move it. ) generally it's concept of a moon shaped ancient colossus, with it's electromagnetic power can bring and rise the rocks and earth dust, shape into arms and any earth related elements around it- inspiration comes from scencist article when the energy on planet fades, planet dies in space.
medium used: colored pencils, watercolor paints, alcoholic paint, alcohols, airbrush, ink, markers and self made textures. slightly adjusted in PS to bring natural colors after scanning and clean scanner's dirt. Over of a week of work.
It's nice to see somesome take the time and effort to work in the traditional mediums, so many people claims to be artists when all they use is the in-built functions of a computer applying pre-made textures and effects and great undo button.
Love the work here and I'm sure when you held this up when you'd finished you felt that great satisifaction of knowing the paint/inks staining your fingers had gone to create a wonderful piece of art.
A much overused saying these days, but this is keeping it real.
this is AMAZING i mean I'm just in AWE! i have seen a lot of great work but this beats so many i cant even describe it. You beat many artists <3 Better than De vinchi
