Earth Creations by Exileden Earth Creations by Exileden
I didn't plan to spoil it by posting a sketch... but oh well :D
This is concept sketch of upcoming collaboration illustration with !khaosdog representing divine Earth Creations (massive in bird-esque form) and this is part of "Xolotlan's Journey".

I drew this on A3 size bristol, I so enjoy sketching and detailing on large formats, since when I discovered drawing on A4 sucks.

The reason I uploaded this, also as an example of new pencil commissions which I'd like to take. If you're interested in commissioning detailed pencil concept artworks- send to me a note!

This is such a gorgeous bird and concept. Did you and Khaos ever finish this piece?

LOL, I nearly forgot about that piece where she was meant to finish it. Well, nope, but I want her to take time. She doesn't have much of time for large art/detailed one at the moment. It might take a while! :)

Haha I was wondering about this piece. Good to hear it wasn't abandoned ;P But I know it will definitely be worth the wait!

It's like a cross between a pelican and a pterodactyl! All the bits hanging on it make me think it's in a swamp, but looking closer at the background... it's not, is it?

Very cool. Makes me think the large lower mandible of the beak is used as a hammer, perhaps for breaking the shells of water beasties.

What is the difference between A3 and A4 bristol board? What lead of pencils do you use?

you can do that. I mean it's your art, so you should decide how you should call. That's for the best, but still it's amazing :D

i can't even draw properly on A4. if the sheet is any larger than A5, the proportions suck. :'D

The sketches are actually most impressive and equally important as the finished product if you consider the things that should be included to your portfolio. I think personally, the sketch actually makes the final product all the more exciting.

When I'll be making an artbook, I thought including concept sketches (earliest stages, the roughest ones where I GET original ideas straightly from my mind, full concept sketches (like that one) and finished artwork next to sketches) where the reader would get in imagination careful production of this artwork, creature and it's environment!

Wow, I like this even as a sketch. Very believable bird-like creature - what is he/she carrying in his beak - is it for a nest? I would love to see the final version.

This is earth bird creatures, their beak and on some parts of body is fused with rocks, some moss and plants are clinging to rocky beak. Those are just "stuck" plants from water and moss :D
