Just doing some small shameless promoting to my new Facebook page. I plan to be more active there.
Also I'm running a small contest there- where you would have to post your creature design o the post wall on this page and I'll pick the best design and will draw it which is a great chance to get art from me
To enter is simple. Like my page and post your creature design picture on the wall. Deadline will be on 28th October.
Oh and the picture is an early stage WIP of digital dragon painting which will be exclusive for my FB page. I'm terribly struggling with digital medium but I got to learn!
PS: Also, those who knew me on FallenEden FB page, yes I've moved into new one due to many reasons. Unlike FallenEden and like my new one. FallenEden will be purged.
Hm not sure how to say... it's more that I cant get control of using brushes to make it look complex, detailed and realistic texture. It looks so "bloppy". And color choosing and shading doesnt go well with what I want and imagine in my mind, as I do smoothly in traditional.
It's tricky. Photoshop's default brush sets don't do well for traditional looks. But here on dA, there's a number of tutorials and brushes for just such effects. They take time to master, but it's worth it in the end. Youtube also has some nice tutorials, and I recommend subscribing to ImagineFX's Channel there. IFX is a magazine where digital artists gather tips, tricks and tutorials for other artists of any level. Otherwise, there's always a change in program. ArtRage and Corel are both good programs for going either traditional or digital.
As for the color-picking, that's harder. You can always draw from real-life images, finding/taking pics with colors you like and picking from them. There's also just sitting down and making a page of colors you like for upcoming projects.
will make sure to check out your fb page and contest~
What exactly are you struggling with on digital art? I can steer you towards some very helpful tutorials.
