Have you been curious about my techniques I use in traditional paintings? They're simple but not simple to figure out!

I've realised for educational purposes, I designed a special artpack called EXPLORER'S ARTPACK where you can select a coloured illustration and sketch together with handwritten guidance with step by step how I colour.

Check here:

https://ko-fi.com/s/22f5edfc76

In this artpack sharing a sheet of a "mini-tutorial" where I am sharing my top three techniques I've developed with traditional art over 10 years. Those are answers for my distinctive style in traditional media 😊

However, the best way to "understand" is not through the computer screen - but to see in physical sheet. It clearly shows how my rendering (and texturing) is done. I'm offering this sheet for free for buyers from my shop (products in total of 200$) - you can combine with original sketch and coloured work together. This combo will make a great sense because in that way your brain can track how it's done.

For me the best way to learn painting with traditional art was tracking original paintings and watching how other artist do in person. However, alas, that's not possible via the computer screen.

I am aware this product is more a test and it's why I am offering for very attractive price this set that I'd like to hear the feedback if that helps!

Be interested and let me know how this artpack has helped you!

Love <3

Why did I change my username?

'Atlantaya' was more than just a name for me; it used to ignite the idea of creating art while sailing around the Atlantic Ocean. My art aimed to catalyse how the nature of the Atlantic could be an amazing source of inspiration.

I had a broader vision of creating a platform (an idea born during the pandemic) to help inspire artists to step out of their homes and paint in nature. However, it never materialized as I was tied up with clients on a boat.

Everything changed on the day when my partner tragically passed away at sea, and my project was discontinued and my activity got idle.

Now, I create art in the studio as I did in the past, and it doesn’t make sense to use that name anymore. I realized that I should never have changed my original name, 'PearlEden,' as it would have been easier for everyone. I know I changed my name in the course of the evolution of my life situation…

Let's review!

1. PearlEden

I was fifteen. Facebook and Instagram didn't really exist. Internet was quite limited (oh boy, good times!) and I uploaded art by taking pictures on my Nokia.

Originally I wanted go with "Leonheart" as it was alias of my LARP stories (my main character was Lion) but it was taken. I didn't want to sound Leonheart1 or something like that. My first appearance on internet, as there is saying - first good impression is lasting. Not to mean for others alone but for myself. Pearl Eden was the name of my ultimate weapon - ancient fierce spear wth pearlescent colours that can summon a beast from submerged seas.

Over a time, with unexpected growth of interest with my art, shaping the trend of "big pawned sparklewolves" and pencil art skills - which today I perceive as huge joy that fanbase shared together and times that cannot be brought back - things got way out of control. Recorded between 2009 and 2010 by 'Washington Post', my art has rocketed to one of most viewed artworks in whole history (together with 'Raincookie'). It was tough to handle that quick-growing popularity in such short timing and young age I was at. It was like the house of cards that were falling down...

2. Exileden

...that I felt exiled by community as name suggests, "Exiled from Eden" ( is called "cancel culture" - however my case was quite little compared to what is going on Twitter/X ! - simply I wasn't mature to communicate) and I created darker, yet more mature art. I literally withdrew, humbly stepped back and focus on personal growth. There I understood what it means "personal growth", working on values and self-esteem. Fifth Agreement and Alchemist books, anyone? Then I embarked on a long travel around the world, where I humbly faced with my odds and fears, turned into understanding. Exileden was strong brand for me personally, that's where I created "Xolotlan Myth" story.

3. Nullight

When Instagram emerged, as well Twitter and whole crazy social communities, I withdrew from continuous work on art. It's a lot longer story, but in a nutshell: I went on hiatus because I was at most important moment of discovery what I want to do in my life. It was clear for me: I didn't want to do art as my career for the rest of my life, recruiting in CD Projekt Red has shown me the reality. Meanwhile I did dogsledding expeditions and found so much passion in outdoors until the best discovery in my life - sailing.

I decided to refresh my art activity by giving a whole new name "Nullight" - the goal was neutrality and nameless identification. Wipe out the past and show up as "just someone that is creating art".

Then I realized no identity (wiping out past) is not motivating nor pushing further. Suddenly you become a rootless tree - it cannot grow further.

4. Atlantaya

Identification, here we go. As above mentioned why is that. After my partner's death and loss of boat, it didn't have fate to continue. Hence, I have a lot (unpublished) materials that were part of "Atlantaya" mission!

5. NovaEden - Hope it's the last change!

Back to the roots. Akreon and Khaosdog (kudos for keeping their names for eons!) were rooting for me to get back to PearlEden, sensing pleasant nostalgia that is so gone in so scattered internet age. So, one night I dreamed of a supernova clashing with garden of Eden...

So, my decision for "NovaEden" became emerging as the evolution of the original name with celestial novelty, yet still linked to the past 'PearlEden' art identification, which used to most powerful usernames in the online art industry. But most important of all: still creating the same and new.

I hope it is also very easy to memorize and pronounce 'Exileden' was giving me a headache! 🤪

To honor the name 'Atlantaya,' I will design a creature species that will be known as 'Atlantayans.'

You may want to adopt one!😊

PS: DeviantArt is still awesome. I love so much writing journals like that and I so miss deep interaction with users.

I'm holding sale of my original pieces - ANY purchase of an original artwork includes a pack of 4 "surprise" sketches... which are fun! ;)

Obviously, there is rule: the more expensive original artwork, the more detailed sketch pieces are coming in pack.

The Deviousness Award still holds my original PearlEden name... so, here is the history with my name.

PearlEden was created on DA when I was 16 yrs... holy cow, it was half of my life ago! PearlEden was the name of my personal weapon I created (hello to the times without internet!) - a mythical long-range spear with pearls used to pinch the Gates of Eden in order to destroy paradise.

So! My nickname has been long there to create colorful artwork, pioneering in creating personalized characters in animal forms for people - solving an issue of self-anxiety (who wasn't anxious as a teenager?). I had my mysterious Shizuzakka character to "cover" the anxiety which I experienced at college.

Commissions were more than just art for fun, but a mental gateway to feeling better. And proud. Pride, that's right! I felt very same when I was ordering commissions of my persona done by other favorite artists. And it was an intense time for art trades and building great friendships. Kanka, Ulaa, Khaosdog and WildSpirit gang, eh?

Well, everything was beautiful and friendly, such a creative paradise, until the age of the internet rose. Popularity rose at an incredibly fast pace. More different people joined DA. It was by the end of the "golden age" in DA, right before FB and other social media (biiig Instagram!) and competition rose.

And it was introductory time of trollers joining there. A toxin interrupted that cheerful way (anyone remembers the famous "Kombat Unit" troller and hater who, even, got in the way of DA moderators?) I was one of his victims. He managed to split our gang. A lot of aggressive communication and affected on my personality. Just like toxic that spreads up and I took a bad part from trollers, participating and starting a war on DA. We all were all split, upset and lost the desire to create art.

It was so energy draining, and affected on my personal life and school. I decided to withdraw, and take a long hiatus...

... and changed my name to Exileden. I deserved to be exiled for wrong doings for the fantastic community that entrusted me. The paradise got exiled.

Therefore, my art has greatly changed. From happy, simplistic "sparkle wolves" (yes, topic to make fun and roll eyes, but hence, let's admit everyone was so happy!)" turned into darker and more serious illustrations with a lot of different topics.

I became creating serious art, and trained to become a development artist and concept illustrator. Worked in industries and so on...

And now, we entered into a totally different era. DeviantArt is basically... dead. Now twitter, IG and FB are totally outruled. Meanwhile, my life has dramatically changed, I quit art as a profession, but keep it as occasional hobby. I began traveling around the world, leading expeditions in far North and since five years, I am yachtswoman. I work in oceans. Sea, islands, no internet, eternal sunrises and sunsets.... and landing in Atlantic Islands. I'd say I got raised there during my mid-age (I have mid-age crisis, ho ho!) Spent COVID in the Atlantic (anyone remembers a terrific story about how the pandemic started?).

So. Another major step.

Change the fucking name! Exileden is too depressing. And not identifying with me anymore. So....

....

....

Atlantaya!

The last couple years I spent in Azores Islands, researching the true manoscripts of Atlantis legend. The Atlantic Ocean became my home and the Azores, known as peaks of submerged Atlantis kingdom. My art is still vivid and crazy with imagination, so I began imagining and re-discovering fantasy characters and environments from Atlantis. For me, it's like a magical box to a fantasy world realm.

Today I am Atlantic Artist. I often create art and draw commissions for you during my voyages across the ocean :)
